It's been 3 years since The Office ended: Where are they now? (Cast Updates)

As of today, it's officially been 3 years since The Office's final curtain call. Go ahead, cry it out. We're right there with you.  And when you're done, read on for the latest happenings in the lives of the actors who did their jobs so well, it's hard to imagine they're not really the people we came to see as our TV family.

 Steve Carell
The former Michael Scott has been very busy.  Since leaving the show, he's become an Oscar nominee (for Foxcatcher), received another nod from the Golden Globes for his role in The Big Short earlier this year, and in recent months, teamed up with his wife Carol Nancy to co-executive produce a TBS comedy starring Rashida Jones entitled "Angie Tribeca." It's first season followed binge-watching trends, releasing all 10 episodes in a single marathon, and was very well received by critics and fans.  Season 2 will premiere soon, on June 6th. Personally, it's been tough for Steve as of late, losing his beloved mother only one day before this year's Mother's Day.


John Krasinski
Our beloved Jimothy has also kept very busy.  The biggest news is that he's become a dad to now 2 year old Hazel, and has another one on the way with wife Emily Blunt. When he's not battling neighbor Jimmy Kimmel with Halpert Vs. Schrute-esque prank wars and charming Emily Blunt, he's working on his physique for his film projects.  For his role in "13 Hours", which released earlier this year, John said he had only 4 months to get ripped for the film.  His hard work was shown off on the cover of Men's Health Magazine and its feature editorial. Recently, he's teamed up with Claire Danes starring in the off-broadway play Dry Powder, where last month he had a mini-reunion with the other half of PB&J.




 Rainn Wilson
Although his FOX TV Show "Backstrom" was cancelled early last year, Rainn's anything but idle. He's gaining YouTube followers the world over on his channel SoulPancake, which is also the name of his production company. At the end of last year, he published a book entitled The Bassoon King: My Life in Art, Faith and Idiocy (available on Amazon), which debuted as a New York Times Bestseller. He's recently been reported as joining the cast of a new Showtime series "Roadies", a brainchild of the highly talented Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Jerry Maguire).  Rainn will play the recurring role of Bryce Newman, "an extremely self-important music journalist" when the series premieres next month. And of course, as always, the former Dwight's getting laughs via twitter.

Jenna Fischer
She might always be Pamalamadingdong to us, but Jenna's acting chops are far from limited to playing one half of TV's greatest romance. Beginning on January 28th, Americans were able to see her in "You Me & The Apocalypse" on NBC.  The new series featured costars Rob Lowe and Megan Mullally, and aired first on sky1 in the UK, where it received positive reviews from critics.  Although it was well received by viewers in the US, it wasn't picked up for a second season. She's also occupied herself with being a mom to her two kids, and breaking the internet by sending Office-fans the world over into a tizzy of hope for JAM: the IRL version. 


B.J. Novak
Does life imitate art or does art imitate life? Who knows. We do know the former Ryan Howard and Office staff writer and producer BJ Novak, has added App Developer to his resume by co-creating the new app The List, similarly to his TV counterpart's brainchild: WUPHF.com.  The new app, available to Apple users, allows you to "Create and share lists about anything and everything."  Like Rainn, BJ also published a book entitled One More Thing: Stories and Other Stories which was well received by critics in 2014.  We recommend checking out the audio book version, which features voice work from former cast mates Mindy Kaling, Jenna Fischer and Rainn Wilson as well as other famous names the likes of Katy Perry, Lena Dunham, Julianne Moore, and Emma Thompson.

Mindy KalingMindy is by far one of the busiest former Dunder Mifflinites.  Her hit TV series "The Mindy Project" was, as of this week, picked up for a 5th season by Hulu.com (The show's new home after Fox cancelled it last year).  It's featured recurring roles from former cast mates B.J. Novak and Ellie Kemper, and guest spots from Paul Lieberstein, Ed Helms and Steven Colbert.  She's also published two bestselling books, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns), and Why Not Me?, and boasts the highest Instagram following of all the former Office-mates.

Ed Helms
The once upon a time Nard Dog has been one of the busier former cast members.  Since the finale of The Office, he's starred in 6 successful feature comedy films (We're The Millers, and the Vacation reboot among them) and he currently has 4 more films in post-production.  One of which, Bastards, is set to release late this year.  It has star-studded cast including Owen Wilson, Glenn Close and JK Simmons.  When he's not busy filming new projects, Ed's also indulging his love for Bluegrass with his band The Lonesome Trio, who released a self-titled debut album around this time last year.

Ellie Kemper
Kemper fared very well after The Office ended.  She recently announced her first pregnancy with husband (and fellow comedy pro) Michael Koman, but has had much success in more than just her personal life. She's had a series of small comedic parts in film and on her former BFF's show "The Mindy Project," but most notable in Kemper's latest resume is her starring role in the highly successful and critically acclaimed Netflix original series: "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" which currently boasts a whopping 95% on Rotten Tomatoes and 8/10 rating on IMDb. Her title character is the survivor of a doomsday cult who reinvents herself in New York City after living underground in Indiana for 15 years. It's second season released last month and is available exclusively on Netflix.

 Craig Robinson
Since leaving the show, Craig's starred in cult comedies like This Is The End and Hot-Tub Time Machine 2.  But his talents are not limited only to in-your-face-comedy.  In the independent film Morris from America, which was shown at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, Craig plays a more subtle comedic role as the father of the title character, both of whom have moved to Germany so Craig's character can coach a soccer team.  At Sundance, Craig earned the honor of the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for his performance in the film.The former Darryl Philbin also continues to delight audiences with his band The Nasty Delicious, which will tour Austrailia next month.


Angela Kinsey
Say what??? The former Mrs. Dwight Schrute, everybody's favorite anal-retentive cat-loving accountant, has gone brunette in 2016 for her role in a new Netflix series "Haters Back Off," which is currently in pre-production. Kinsey has had a series of small TV comedy parts since leaving The Office, such as recurring roles on "New Girl" and "Your Family or Mine."  Wholly unlike her famous alter-ego, Angela Kinsey is all-smiles and laughs IRL.  She's also highly dedicated to The Office's fandom and frequently tweets and Instagrams throwbacks to the show and reunion photos with her former cast-mates.  Follow her twitter and Insta for regular Office-y goodness.

Paul Lieberstein
Since The Office ended, the former Toby Flenderson convicted rapist, Paul's kept busy as a writer and producer.  He executive produced the critically acclaimed series "The Newsroom" which aired 3 seasons on HBO from 2012-2014. The series earned many award nods, most notably for star Jeff Daniels' starring role. Earlier this year, Paul also celebrated the 25th anniversary of "Clarissa Explains it All" his first writing gig. Most recently, he can be seen in a mini-Office reunion with fellow annex-mate Mindy Kaling in "The Mindy Project." His role is Toby-esque and would likely delight most Office fans.  Watch his guest role in the episode "Mindy Lahiri is DTF" exclusively on Hulu.

 Creed Bratton
Since Dunder Mifflin closed its doors in 2013, Creed's kept himself occupied in various music and acting projects.  In 2014, he released a 3 part "audio-biography" entitled "Tell Me About It."  More recently, he can be seen in a guest role on Netflix's original series "Grace & Frankie" starring Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda, in the episode "The Bachelor Party." He also continues to share his music talents with small audiences.  His most recent 10-date tour closed up only a few weeks ago.


 Kate Flannery
Kate's had more than a dozen small parts since The Office said goodbye (most notably as Mean Marge on "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" and in the film 4th Man Out), but she's also kept busy on stage.  Recently, she's been touring with Jane Lynch's show "See Jane Sing,"and continues to tour cross country with her comedy act The Lampshades.







 Brian Baumgartner
In 2014, Brian married long time girlfriend Celeste Ackleson and the two welcomed their first child, Brylee Bea, in February of 2015.  Work's also kept him busy appearing in small recurring roles in TV hits like "Hot in Cleveland" and "Melissa & Joey." He's also recently reported to have joined the cast of "Hand of God," for its season two.  The series is available only on Amazon.









Oscar Nunez
Actually, Oscar's been anything but idle since The Office wrapped its series finale.  He's had a series of small TV parts (including guest roles on "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," "Life in Pieces" and "Shameless" among them) as well as a recurring part in the 2014 series "Benched" which unfortunately was cancelled last year.  Aside from acting, Oscar's used his celebrity to team up with Cruelty Free International, campaigning to end animal cosmetic testing. He's pictured left with his rescue dog, Gus. Oscar can also be found on Twitter, occasionally posting mini-reunion pics with his former coworkers, as it were.




Phyllis Smith

The former Mrs. Bob Vance, Vance Refrigeration, never had much of an acting bug to begin with, only becoming part of the series after reading lines with the cast as part of the show's talent-seeking staff.  But since she took her last bow as Phyllis Lapin-Vance, Vance Refrigeration, Phyllis, the actress, has found fame. In the 2015 Pixar animated feature film hit Inside Out, Phyllis voiced the starring role Sadness next to comedy giants Amy Poehler (Joy) Bill Hader (Fear) and Lewis Black (Anger).  Her former coworker, Mindy Kaling also voiced a small role in the film, playing Disgust. The film, as of the time of this posting, has grossed over $850 million U.S. dollars world-wide.
